Do I need an architect before I contact you?
Not at all. Some of our clients come with a complete set of construction documents, while others come with ideas on a napkin. We can work with your architect if you have one, or we can guide you through the entire design-build process from the start. Either way, we'll figure it out together.
How involved will I be in the process?
As involved as you want to be — and we encourage you to be very involved. We include you in the decision-making from day one. You'll have regular check-ins, walk-throughs during construction, and we always welcome your questions. This is your home, and we believe you should feel connected to every step of building it.
How do you handle budgeting?
Transparency is everything. We provide detailed cost estimates using real-time subcontractor quotes so you can see exactly where every dollar goes. We discuss costs openly and help you make informed decisions about where to invest and where to save. If the actual cost comes in under an allowance, the savings are yours.
What types of contracts do you offer?
We offer both lump sum and cost-plus contracts. For many of our clients, cost-plus with a guaranteed maximum gives you budget certainty while allowing flexibility as design details evolve. We'll walk you through the options and help you choose what feels right for your project.
Do you build from plan books?
No. We take a fully custom approach to every home we build. We don't maintain a catalog of designs and finishes to pick from. Instead, we work with you and your architect to create something that reflects the way you live — from the floor plan down to the door hardware.
How long does it take to build a custom home?
Every project is different. A straightforward custom home might take 8-12 months of construction, while a larger or more complex project may take longer. We develop a detailed schedule at the outset and keep you updated on milestones throughout. We won't rush quality, but we won't waste your time either.
Can you help with additions and renovations too?
Absolutely. We bring the same custom approach and personal attention to additions and renovations that we do to new builds. Whether you need a new kitchen, a master suite, or a whole new wing, we'll work with you to make your existing home better fit the way you live now.
Do you build green or energy-efficient homes?
Sustainable building practices are second nature to us and are integrated into every phase of the process. We're happy to discuss energy-efficient options — from insulation and HVAC systems to materials and site orientation — and help you find the right balance of performance and budget.
What happens if something changes during construction?
Changes happen — and that's okay. We process change orders transparently, showing you exactly what the cost and schedule impact will be before you decide. No surprises. Our goal is to make sure you always have the information you need to make decisions with confidence.
